Juju - Reimagined Indian
Juju, a modern Indian restaurant, reimagines timeless Indian fare in a contemporary style. The name signifies magic, and Raghav and Bhavna Bahl wanted it to be a magical space where people have a good experience with food and drinks. It is a single fluid space, unbroken by pillars or dividers, and boasting a central bar whose ceiling resembles a sunburst. The ‘rays’ are all wood, and the material (sourced from shipwrecks along the Goan coast) features prominently in the design and décor. Food is served on natural stone tables decorated with handmade vases and fresh flowers from the garden.
The restaurant seats 80, inside and outside. The inside area features speakers from Void Acoustics along with Powersoft amplifiers, all controlled via a custom web interface. Total of 8no.s of Venue 6 v2 along with 2 units of Venue 112v2 Subs, fill the indoor space with sumptuous sound that also takes care of live music performances. The outside section overlooks a huge garden that deploys PSB outdoor speakers to fill the patio and the garden.
The ‘amoeba-shaped windows’ allow in sunlight through the day, the clay-coloured walls soothe and the cement blocks add weight to the bar. At night, warm lights lend the place a cosy, intimate vibe, thus helping its transition from a restaurant and bar to a party place.
